Lawyers Life Network is committed to assisting attorneys in offering insurance products to their clients while maintaining the highest possible ethical standards. Attorneys who join Lawyers Life Network must agree to the following standards:
Full Disclosure
LLN members must disclose to their clients in writing the fact that the lawyer will receive a commission if the client purchases the policy through the lawyer. The LLN disclosure form may be downloaded here.
No Pressure
LLN members may not insist that insurance be purchased through them. In fact, they must offer to work with the client’s existing financial or insurance professional, even if that means that the attorney will earn no commission.
No Fee Adjustment
LLN members may not reduce their legal fees as an inducement for the client to purchase insurance or simply as a recognition of the commission to be received. Doing so is a violation of insurance law.
Always Choose the Best Policy.
Insurance recommendations to clients will be based on the quality of the policy and the financial health of the issuing insurance company, not on the level of commissions paid to the broker.
Appropriate Policies Only
LLN sees life insurance products as a tool which is useful to some clients in some situations. LLN members must pledge to provide insurance services to their clients only when they consider it to be in the clients best interest.
